Chick-Fil-A Becomes Iconic for Neo-NAZIS & Tea Party

Young-Adult fiction writer's idea accidentally leads to Arizona Chick-Fil-A protester being cyber-bullied by "White Power" website based in West Palm Beach, Florida

It's no secret that Arizona has become absolutely infested with Neo-Nazis since Jan Brewer took office...  But their intermingling with the Tea Party receives very little media attention - until now.  The "White Power" groups, it turns out, are BIG fans of Chick-Fil-A and have been resorting to well-orchestrated cyber-bullying attacks in order to fulfill their "chicken pride" dreams...

This story starts out with a Young Adult Fiction writer named Jackson Pearce... She's level-headed, witty, and her fans love her...  She's a white, Christian girl who makes fun, upbeat YouTube videos and updates her Twitter account like every 10 minutes... seriously.

Jackson used to eat at Chick-Fil-A "all the time" until she decided that the company was indeed anti-gay and she joined the protest/boycott movement with this clever addition to the dialogue:

Now, as you can see from the above video, Jackson Pearce's idea is simple... Go to Chick-Fil-A  during "chicken pride day" and ask them for a cup of free water...  This, you should mention is a fulfillment of Biblical principle set forth in Proverbs 25-whatever...

But one Chick-Fil-A protester, Adam Smith in Tuscon, AZ sort of botched up the idea... He demanded "free water" without really asking for it... and he forgot to mention the Proverbs thingy...  In short, you could say that Adam was a little bird-brained and forgot the key ingredients from the idea that Jackson Pearce cooked up... (See what I did right there?)

Here's Adam Smith's video upload that kind of botched Pearce's good intention:

But Adam Smith was indeed, over-all, respectful and did not "abuse" the Chick-Fil-A employee... This is very important to note.  The Chick-Fil-A employee (identified only as Rachel) was VERY respectful and polite... Adam's protest made her uncomfortable but she didn't lose her cool...  Chick-Fil-A has every reason to be proud of her.

But although Adam's protest was maybe a bit "bitter" in the sense that he questioned how "Chick-Fil-A employees live with themselves"... He was also very polite and said "Thank You" and told the employee that she "deserves better" than what Chick-Fil-A can offer her...

Now - here's where the whole clucking thing gets deep-fried and battered and comes up as a big smelly ball of gizzards for the Tea Party.

Adam was fired for this...

Adam got fired from his job right after he uploaded the video to his personal YouTube account. The video wasn't made on company time and he didn't connect his off-the-clock actions to his employment on any level.

Adam worked for a medical supply company called the Vante Corporation in Arizona... It remained unclear how Vante knew about Adam's protest video so quickly and took such swift action against him within 24 hours...  But I am going to clear that up for you now.

Indeed, within 24 hours of Adam making his anti-chick-fil-a protest video, not only did he find himself out of a job, but he was stalked, bullied and cyberbullied by random people he'd never even met before.  Furthermore, in that same brief period of time, Adam's name and photo and personal email address were being blasted all over Twitter and even corporate press-release websites such as Marketwire and Business Insider...

This is the work of a Neo-Nazi "White Power" hate-group website called Stormfront.org... I will not link to the offending portion of their website for obvious reasons...  But I will show you a screenshot from their YouTube video re-upload of Adam's protest video...

On the website itself, users do not always take the requisite precautions to obscure their identities and their Twitter accounts as "Tea Party" activists are easily located by anyone who looks into such things. Stormfront.org was the first website to begin squawking and crowing (there I go again!) about their Chicken Pride Day success in getting Adam fired from his job at the Vante Corporation.

They had orchestrated the sabotage and were happy to log onto Twitter under their "Tea Party" identities (a friendlier face of hatred) and make sure that every "conservative" website was soon blogging about the "gay man" (not true in Adam's case) who had "assaulted" and "abused" an innocent Chick-Fil-A employee. Even Fox News has such a story... and it's been less than 48 hours since the event took place... However the real story here is how the story was fabricated by the Tea Party in conjunction with a Neo-Nazi website...

Another question remains... Will the Vante Corporation hire Adam back and admit that they have no business prying into the private lives of their employees to such a degree? Or will we forever suspect that Vante itself is somehow connected to Stormfront.org?

Update:  Adam has contacted me and admitted that his actions in the video are not his personal best - which is why he originally attempted to erase the video.
Furthermore, I need to explain why I've copied both his video and Jackson's video for this blog post.  Under the "fair use" clause in copyright terms, these videos are both "newsworthy" and should now be considered "in the public domain" since they are part of and directly relate to an ongoing issue in mainstream news.
I am not attempting to claim that these videos are my own or that I have any right to use them beyond preserving/displaying them for their newsworthiness alone. I was not the first person to copy and display these videos and specifically Adam's video is one that he did not wish to have online anymore - since others have begun to edit the video in order to further harass him, I feel obligated to show the untouched version here to counterbalance that.  I do not attempt to make any money from these videos or connect their creators with the opinions expressed in this blog.  The facts and opinions expressed on Florida Squeezed are the author's own and are not necessarily endorsed by any other parties discussed or mentioned on this blog.  08/04/12  (Original blog post at 08/02/12)

Watch Adam's sincere apology to Rachel here:

It also contains some very interesting information about the way in which he was immediately bullied at work over something that people ordinarily wouldn't even have known about so quickly...

    2. There is no Neo Nazi Group from Northern Idaho. They were removed from that region 15+ years or so ago by educated, smart, understanding white people. That is the true "white power". Not the ones you think of. Plus, the Arian Nation were in extremely minute numbers to begin with. You will find most of them in the US Prison system where racism is the strongest between all ethnic groups. The pair well with the New Black Panthers who you probably support.

I think we have all done a pretty good job of removing most haters out of mainstream society (on both extremes). It is hilarious to watch and listen to the extreme left label anyone who doesn't agree with their liberal opinions as wackos. You really don't see the visceral response from the right. It really is one way. Maybe we just have better values. We don't hate the LBGT community at all. They can live the life they choose. You see, we believe in a free and open America. Some of us just don't believe they should be legally married. They can have all of the rights in same sex unions. And even if they get married, it is no big deal. God will ultimately be the judge. We just think there should be a defining line somewhere based on history and the bible. If someone wants to stick their penis in another guys ass out of love. Have at it. I really could care less.

    3. You're response was thoughtful up to the last 3 lines, which negates the toughfulness of your response. Keep it decent. And you should care. By the way, even if the government declares same-sex marriage legal, it will be a legality only. It will never be a marriage.

    5. I watched the Adam Smith video and although his request for water was polite to that point, the way he commented afterward was CLEARLY hostile to poor Raches, who displayed a kind and Christian attitude throughout.

The Vante Corporation had every right, after Smith's actions were pointed out, to "call him on the carpet," but firing went a little far. Maybe a few days suspension, but no firing.

As I pointed out in a Town Hall type meeting I had attended for other reasons, but found myself and all others who supported the Defense of Marriage Act attacked by a homosexual activist, We do not go out of our way to bother or interfere with homosexual rights as long as they don't try to peddle their deviant behavior to our children and display it a source of public irritation. We do not attack their meetings, throw eggs rotten tomatoes and rocks at their meeting places as they do to churches who preach the Bible. I pointed out that even if a legislature or court says two men or two women are "married", the law of nature says they are not and never can be. They can never reproduce their own offspring by homosexuality.

Both the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric association had a whole chapter on how to help people with that mental problem to overcome it until it became a POLITICAL issue. It has NEVER been proven scientifically, medically pr psychologically that homosexuality is normal.

Laws giving parents tax and other breaks can never be the right of homosexuals because they can never reproduce by homosexuality.

    6. Yes it does. As far as Sandusky goes, this sort of crime should get the death penalty in my book. As far as gay consenting adults goes, its between them and God. As far as the USA and its laws, we too will answer to God and I don't think we will like the answer. Pray for our nation. I pray for those kids, and all of our children who are being led astray. I can't bring my self to pray for Sandusky, I'd rather see him burn in hell. I'm sure I will answer to God for that too!

    7. To the Reverend,
Because you sre a reverend I am sure that you are far more educated in Christianity than I am, However, I think that some people are born homosexual. The number of people statistically that are homosexual show it is abnormal by definition. It is obviously abnormal based on the fact that the physiology of men and women clearly shows that they were meant to mate. The fact that our world is a fallen world produces these abnormalities. I pray for them. It would indeed be a sad thing to have these proclivties and not be able to act on them. But we all have our crosses to bear. They can choose to go with their bodily impulses, or follow a spiritual life. Unfortumately for our country, we are encouraging them to follow the flesh and forsake the spiritual. God help us all.

These wingnuts have no sense of morality, shamelessly lying about Adam Smith when he was nothing but polite. Unfortunately, lying has become the primary tactic of the right wing, because it's all they got.

    9. I'm from Northern Idaho, am quite liberal and very pro-gay. Unlike others here, I'm not going to berate the blog writer, since it's just a blog, and I see nonsense online everywhere. I'm sure Stormfront is full of uninformed nonsense, never researched nor thought out or backed up in any way, yet they feel free to come here and criticize a blog writer for what they claim is the same behavior on his personal blog. However, I'd like to point out that Ruby Ridge is not a town in Northern Idaho. It's a ridge over-looking Ruby Creek with one house that used to belong to the Weaver family. The Weaver family was a single white separatist family that enjoyed the Idaho wilderness until Randy Weaver refused to show up in court after he'd sold Federal agents sawed-off shot guns, so there was a violent stand-off. How anyone can live like white separatists is beyond me. They seem a very miserable, violent, selfish, fundamentalist and paranoid bunch.

I think it's hilarious that the Tea Party is now trying to separate themselves from neo-nazis... and apparently Stormfront is as well! You guys are so hateful that you desperately distance yourselves from your own people. You hate EVERYONE! You hate blacks, you hate Jews, you hate gays, you hate women, you hate atheists, you hate Catholics, etc. etc. You even hate the Tea Party, unless you're part of the Tea Party, then you hate neo-nazis, unless you are neo-nazis, then you hate The Westboro Baptist Church. For Christ's sake, just look in the mirror and accept the reflection. You guys are hardly in any position to be recommending psychiatric treatment for gays.

This blogger didn't pin any unwarranted associations on you. You have spent years earning this reputation. However, I have not seen the video of Adam Smith, so I can't say whether he deserved to be fired. If he truly was being a bully, I can see firing him for that. However, it seems every time America has a political conflict, lots of people lose their jobs. That's hardly befitting the land of free speech. We should all be able to open our mouths without losing our livelihoods, and that includes the people of Stormfront. Therefore, even if somebody at Vante is associated with Stormfront, Vante needs to stop worrying about other people's politics and start worrying about their business. Likewise, if Mr. Smith was fired for expressing his opinion, he should be returned to his position. This is not free speech. What good is it to live in a country where you are free to express yourself, if failing to conform with popular opinion means you suddenly can't feed yourself? Vante can have an expressively liberal CFO and an employee from Stormfront and still create good medical supplies... which should be all the American people care about. If Vante wants to make a statement that they support American values, how about they begin by supporting freedom of expression?

Anyway, despite the fact I've made it clear I could care less who is associated with who, please don't associate Idaho with this. It is a farming community. Your waffle fries are from there. Sure, there are lots of Mormons, and it is a red state, but there are plenty of liberals. We even had our own OWS movement. Boise has an annual gay pride parade. Actually, a lot of Idaho cities do. Sandpoint and Coeur D'Alene are both gay friendly cities in Northern Idaho. Look up "North Idaho Pride Foundation". You were already aware that Larry Craig was gay, right?

    10. I've been going to tea parties for years(in East Texas) and am still waiting for the first hint of racism. The racists know that they would be rejected loudly and with extreme predjudice if they were to spew their hatred in our midst. Every meeting I've been to there is a statement to the effect that racism won't be welcomed or tolerated. We are about issues and freedom. We don't care if our president is bright pink with yellow stripes. We just want him to do his job in a way that best serves this country and in accordance with the Constitution. The idea that Neo-Nazis will have any influence on what we do is ridiculous and asinine. Any linkage between the tea party and racists is a fictional linkage invented by a lefty without integrity and there are plenty of those to choose from.

    11. To Leroy Wolf - Keep following my blog... Your insinuation that there is "no racism" anywhere in the Tea Party would be laughable if it weren't so scary that you could think such a thing. You've even highlighted one of the ways in which racism exists there, although to you, it looks perfectly "normal".
Most political groups don't need to warn their members not to be racist before every meeting... Did you know that?

  2. I am appalled by what happened to Adam Smith and horrified that Vante corp. would be so quick to terminate one of their finest employees. I understand the University of Arizona has requested his resignation. What happened to freedom of speech? How can a hateful group like these people hiding behind the tea party blog, promoting "white power" have the ability to get an amazing family man terminated?

    4. KC, you need to look at your points here and engage your brain for a minute. Freedom of Speech ONLY applies to the Federal Government's ability to restrict. Some state constitutions also include such language, but I'm not sure (nor do I care) about Arizona. Of course anyone is free to speak, but remember, your freedom ends where mine begins. What Adam Smith did was harass and bully a young girl for something she did not do. If this was your child getting verbally assaulted by some creep, you wouldn't like it very much. And his saying "Thank you" at the end did not make every proceeding statement alright. And why has no one from the LGBT community asked Adam Smith for an apology for stating he had no gay in him? THAT was probably the only thing hateful happening at that Chick-fil-A towards the LBGT fanboys that day. There is no diversity of thought allowed anymore in this nation, if not the world. We are down to two camps of thought, and for some reason, if you don't have the opinion of one side, than you must be filled with hate (or H8 as the uneducated morons say it).

    7. Freedom of speech, really?????? What he did was ignorant and bully that poor girl. What started this whole thing were a Christian man responding in a Christian magazine his family beliefs. The backlash has been hateful, not the company. I have many gay friends, love them more than most. You CANNOT bully a company or it's employees for not having the same ideas as you, especially if they are not acting out of hate, and they themselves have hired different race/religion/sexual preference. If that man worked for me, I would fire him as well.

    10. This is a great example of the hypocrisy of not only the left but to some extent the right as well. I went to Chick-Fil-A not because of their stance on gay lesbian lifestyle but to show support for freedom of speech. The owners are Christians and the statement made had no hate or anger in it, he was simply explaining his beliefs. There is no evidence to be found that this company practices anything resembling discriminatory policies and we know that they have many gay and lesbian employees. So he said something that upset some public people and they made it an issue, they decided to try and create a nationwide protest and in response supporters of the first amendment stepped up and countered it with a show of support. Now lets be clear that many people have very strict views on the gay lifestyle and they joined in but over all this wasn't about gay or straight, it wasn't about left or right either. Simply it was about the right to speak and part of that right includes accepting the consequences of your words. Adam Smith is feeling severe backlash of his actions mainly because of the way he went about protesting someone else's right to speak. Lets be clear he wasn't polite and he wasn't respectful, he was angry and he took it out on a teenager in a drive-through window. He also dragged his company into the mess by not hiding who he worked for. So what happened here is a company exec said something that created a stir and the company was rewarded with insane profit for a singles day of operation that probably matched a normal week or maybe even a month but another person lost his jobs and might be out on the street with his family. I have to assume Adam's wife is also letting him have a large dose of consequences.

    11. Phillip Kruse , very well put, most employers want their employees to represent them well. To me it was not that he supported gay marriage, but how he treated an employee at chic-Fil -A. In that manner. I think this has gotten way out of control, just because one person says I am not for gay marriage and someone else says they are. Does not make them out to be HATERS. The media and all the protesters have made a point ,now who is becoming the haters.

I find unfathomable the response to ChikFilA CEO's position on the traditional, established, biblical, time honored view of marriage between one man and one woman. I think children benefit from both a father and a mother in a stable family home. I guess that is not just Rahm Emmanuel Chicago style values these days.

The Chick-Fil-A "problem" that most LGBT persons site is their donations to legitimate "hate groups" that DO interfere with their civil liberties... Leroy - you are a Tea Party member. If your employer spotted you in a photo holding an "Obama is a Muslim" sign, do you think you should be fired for that? Or lets say that you got carried away and said it loudly to someone and then ran off with your hands in the air... Should you get fired for that?
My contention is that no - as long as it doesn't affect your work, on the clock, you have every right to be a jerk on your own time. :)

    18. What Adam did was well beyond freedom of speech. He was harassing an employee. As to his freedom of speech, he is welcome to express his opinion. However, there is another freedom issue here. The freedom of his employer to require its employees to represent their company well in the public eye. Vante has the freedom to make a judgement call that Mr Smith did not represent their company in the way that they would like and thus terminate his employment.

    1. Adam's right to free speech was most certainly "impinged" by the company he works for... Which is arguably illegal in this particular circumstance. There is case precedent already set for this sort of thing.
Government's job isn't only to avoid doing bad things, its job also entails making sure we don't do bad things to each other.
Furthermore, what you see as "hate-filled", I see as merely rude or abrupt... much like your comment. However, it should be noted that Adam has admitted his faults pertaining to the interaction but holds his stance that Chick-Fil-A has aggrieved him more seriously with their anti-civil-rights donations.
Let's face it... good-natured, concerned people who care about their gay friends won't work at Chick-Fil-A.
I don't work at Wal-Mart and if I did, I certainly wouldn't claim that I care about the unemployed in America and all the abused women and children in China... That would be a bit hypocritical, wouldn't it?

There is a lot of work to be done. We are working on helping Americans reduce their dependency on the govt. In Dallas last week 35,0000 tea partiers from all over the world performed a day of service and completed hundreds of service projects. We put roofs back on churches and rebuilt houses. Fourteen semi trucks loaded with over a million meals for homeless Americans were sent to 11 different cities. This was the biggest service project in history. Saturday night 65,0000 tea partiers gathered in the Dallas Cowboy Stadium to be with Glenn Beck and start a movement that will rock the world. Hide and watch and see if I'm lying, leftys. And then be very afraid because there is no way to even slow us down, let alone stopping us. The tea party has gone global. 16. Adam is a real MAN. He can attack a drive up window clerk! Man is he cool. The owner of the company is the one with the view. Why didn't Adam go confront the guy who actually gave his opinion. Adam is sooo cool. I think I am going to CHICK-FIL-A dinner and give a nice big tip on behalf of all the people who target the store workers like they are the ones to blame.

Instead of being a complete A-hole, why didn't Adam offer the girl a job so she didn't have to work there anymore? There are better ways to go about hurting a company than attacking their employees. Do you people really think these employees can simply quit? Can you quit if you boss says something you don't agree with?? Maybe you people should invite all the chick-fil-a employee to quit and come work for you. Oh thats right, you aren't smart enough to think past being nasty to people who serve fast food. Man you are awesome!

Well, I am off to Chick-fil-a for dinner. Peace!!!

Wow that sums of the left-wing way of thinking right there. Agree with me or you are a Nazi. That is a stupid and lazy way to think. But then again the whole left wing ideology is filled with stupid and lazy ideas.

  18. Awesome, trying to paint this bully as some sort of 'victim.' What he did to that poor girl Rachel was just mean and uncalled for.. what did she do to Him? Nada. Poor thing just showed up for work. I hope the company gives her a couple of paid days off for being a Hero and supporting her company.. and Adam - wow - the numbers are out and unemployment is back Up to 8.3% ~ Bad timing huh? You do have the right to free speech as well, but there might be consequences to those actions. No one has a RIGHT to have a job. I guess your company did not want to be associated with YOUR brand of hate.

  19. WAIT A MINUTE...
Though I don't agree with Adam Smith getting fired for his actions outside of the workplace, I fail to see the "connection" between a Neo-Nazi group and the "TEA Party"? Do you have evidence of this "connection" to include in your post, or are you pulling a Harry Reid, where you make an unverified accusation, demand that the "accused" prove it wrong, and then sit back and let everyone else run with the unanswered "truth"? It's this kind of careless blogging/reporting that is killing this country in the first place! People need to learn to open their minds and their eyes and state fact and proof when bearing witness of another.

  20. Sorry, but when you work for a company at the level that he did, your public actions are generally restricted for very good reason. Look at the CEO of Chik-F... said one thing on PRIVATE time and the lefties start their hate march against the entire chain. THAT is what Adam was justly fired...
In addition, you idiots still haven't figured out that there is no Tea "Party" yet, have you? There is no leader, there is no sign-up list, it's a simply idea shared among people who are sick and damn tired of being overtaxed. Try to get that through your thick skulls.
In your never ending quest for a nazi boogey man, I sometimes laugh to the point of being in tears watching you try to get a lock on the evil Tea "Party"... and the whole time you are simply shooting at nothing. It's absolutely hilarious.

And he solely is responsible for the repercussions that Vante will face from their customers that don't agree with Mr. Smith. And i repeat, this website exists to only spew hate.

    1. I think the VERY best part of this statement that leftist/liberal/socialist/progressive/LGBT people fail to understand, yet is the answer to all their hate, is this: RESPONSIBILITY. These clowns always cry foul when their opinion/ideas/actions/behaviors are not agreed with and they want the rest of us to agree with them or else! And Lord knows, if you don't agree with them you are called a Nazi/Tea-bagger/fascist/right-wing/supremacist/fundamentalist. All they have to do is make the claim with no responsibility to prove their accusations.

    1. I agree that this post was dishonest. This is how the left usually recruits followers, with lies. This is also why they have created a permanent underclass of poverty stricken people who get substandard education. They are the majority of those who believe their lies. I too watched Jackson Pearces' video and this man went far beyond what she recommended. The saddest part of her video was her complete lack of understanding of the Bible. Either she is an atheist, or has been led astray by one of the new brands of christianity maquerading as Christianity. Maybe she's an Episcopalian.

  24. As a corporate officer, Adam Smith had a RESPONSIBILITY to represent them with dignity. His former company,Vante Corporation, had EVERY RIGHT to fire him for his childish inability to control his actions. When you're paid to represent a company, you MUST have loyality for them, NOT EMBARRASS them with some stunt you heard about on the internet..........Well Adam, I've only got one question for you......Why didn't you just control your urge to famous? OH well, too late for that...........

  30. The white supremicists might try to join the Tea Party, but the Tea Party wants no part of them. The exact same thing can be said of groups like the Black Panthers who want to join the OWS group, but they won't claim the BP either. You get good and bad everywhere you go. So those arguments are null/void, and all they do is serve to cause racism to stay alive and well. The more YOU talk about it, the more YOU are spreading racism.

Secondly, what Adam Smith did was appalling and out of line. HE did not respect the free speech of Dan Cathy as an individual. Cathy was not speaking for CFA at the time. He was ASKED to say what his PERSONAL beliefs were, and he answered. So everyone needs to get off his back and allow him that freedom - unless you don't want your freedom.

Third, Adam Smith getting fired is sad, but deserved, because there's a higher law when you are an adjunct professor at a big University, and you are CFO of a company. You are to walk a higher ground and not engage in things like videoing a hateful scene where you are berating an innocent girl who has nothing to do with Dan Cathy's personal beliefs, nor Adam Smith's personal beliefs.

Fourth, for people to curse, insult, and threaten Adam Smith and his family is beyond, beyond, beyond shameful and totally wrong. Those people, the "bad eggs" of society have obviously never matured, never grown up, never learned to be respectful of others, and continue to be like the "terrible two's" brats that they show themselves to be.

As adults in the most blessed nation on earth, we should do 100% better than what we're doing. We should respect each other. We can disagree. That does not mean we berate each other. it doesn't mean we threaten each other when one of us thinks opposite of the other.

What a SHAMEFUL sight Adam Smith and those threatening him have become.

THEY ARE BOTH WRONG. And my hope is that they BOTH stop being so darned proud and selfish and get over themselves, repent, ask for forgiveness, GIVE forgiveness, and then get professional counseling so they can finally mature and become kinder people.

  31. Maybe Adam wasn't that great of an employee and this was just the coup de grace for Mr. Smith. Maybe Mr. Smith had HR issues within the Vante Inc. prior to this antic. That's my sneaking suspicion.

  32. This has got to be the most biased, poorly written article I've ever read.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Adam Smith was "respectful"? Not true. The employee did not want to be filmed, but he continued to film his juvenile, purposeless stunt and post it on YouTube. The fact that Vante took action swiftly seems inconsequential. Action within a day or a week? Why does it matter? Thousands of people of all sectors of the public were upset. If I were a student or subordinate of Mr. Smith I would be concerned that if I brought in a cup of coffee with Chick Fil A printed on the side that he would hatefully discriminate against me or associate me with a "hate" group. And even worse, if I had a differing view of how and why the government should regulate marriage contracts, licenses, and benefits, it would affect his evaluation of my performance.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Of course they have the right to f ire him. They are a private company and can hire and fire as long as they don't discriminate based on race color or creed. This guy was being a jackass and puts the company in a bad light. Words have meaning and consequences. This blogger obviously has no real world experience as this is apparently his only "job'.

  35. Some people have a clear understanding of the facts, some kinda do, some do not, and some are so off base that it is very troubling. The latter refers to those that appear to be liberals and such that resort to terrible behaviors and so on.

Even though I am agnostic, a Darwinist and a vegetarian, I still went to Chick-fil-a on Wednesday to support the right of free speech and the right to voice an opinion that is contrary to what the liberals and such keep trying force on everyone. I left with a meal but I forgot to get my drink and I thought about turning around but then I said that I was really there to make a point, to include with my wallet, so that one less drink would be that much more of a profit for Chick-fil-a. How ironic it was that, without my knowing it, Adam Smith knowingly sought a free drink from another Chick-fil-a. So, in the end, and in his claim in his video that he hoped he had taken money from Chick-fil-a so it would not have it to give to what he called hate groups, my error in forgetting my drink meant that the financial act that Adam Smith tried to pull off failed. I ate the waffle fries and I left the chicken for wild animals in the area to eat.

As a Vietnam Era veteran, I can recall the days when those serving in the military during the Vietnam War were accused of being baby killers by those that had opposed the war. Ironically, I never believed that the war in Vietnam was right and I disagreed with the draft process but yet I found myself being called a baby killer along with others even though I am a pacifist and even though my career field in the military was as a medic. Now, the same type of liberals that once called people in the military baby killers are now calling Christians hate mongers, bigots, neo Nazis and so on. I am called such, even when I am not a Christian and even though my position on gays is not because of the bible.

What Adam Smith did was complete bullying and intimidation. If he wanted to exercise either free speech or freedom of expression, he could have held up a sign and protested on public property in front of a Chick-fil-a store or he could have written a letter to Dan Cathy. Instead, he bullied a defenseless and trapped Chick-fil-a employee the same way a bully picks on someone smaller than them. I wonder if Adam Smith acted as he did due to the employee being a woman? I guarantee that if Adam Smith had spoken to me as he did the employee, he would not have had to worry about either losing his job or about his receiving any of the hateful emails he claims he has received; which he may have.

As a few added comments, did Adam Smith take that free drink of water and give to any of the people that could really have used it? Also, instead of his wasting his time and gas to do what he did at Chick-fil-a, why didn’t he donate his time and gas elsewhere? And, did he even begin to think about his family before he did what he did? His actions just seem to indicate that he is a self-centered and narcissistic person. I only say that because look at just how much of the video he spends recording himself, which includes his face, rather than just recording his voice and the Chick-fil-a employee. It is as if he wanted the video to be about himself and how great he thinks he is. Then, when his behavior did not invoke the response he wanted to record, he insulted the employee by stating that he did not know how she could live with herself. So, does Adam Smith do this to any janitors at any schools his children attend if his children receive a grade that he is not happy with?

  40. vante did not fire mr smith because of his speech..or for expressing his opinions..they fired him because of his ACTIONS. what corporation with any sense of self preservation, would have as one of its top corporate officials, a man that has that little control over his emotions? it isnt a question of IF mr smith would ultimately act out this way, but WHEN mr smith would ultimately act out this way.stating an opinion, is NOT what mr smith did. mr smith verbally abused a corporation, its ideology, its employees, and its customers, while on what was obviously his lunch break at a company, that doesnt share his views.he further abused those people and chick fil a's corporate image by posting his abuse on youtube, from his employers place of business.the CONTENT of his views are mute. he would be just as dangerous to have as a representative, if his views were opposite of what they are. i think vante did the responsible thing..responsible to the injured..responsible to the public..responsible to itself.mr smith needs to understand this..understand that HE has a problem..get TREATMENT for said problem..then ask vante for a referral.

  42. Stormfront should not have been described in this article as a "Neo-Nazi website". Stormfront is no such thing. It's a White Nationalist website. White Nationalism is for keeping traditionally White nations as White as possible and for promoting the establishment of all-White communities within multiracial nations. It's for the preservation of the White race and culture, not for ruling over or killing non-Whites. A Nazi is a person who subscribes to National Socialism, a specific political idealogy associated with Hitler's German government. Most members of Stormfront are not National Socialists, because many do not believe in socialism, and many are just not fans of Hitler for historical and/or personal reasons.

  43. Keith said it better than anyone could. Adam Smith got caught and now he's remorseful. He needs help and he needs to recognize no one else did this to him. Regrets a bitch.

  45. Actually, my name is Bill. I have no accounts to sign in with, hence, the anonymous tag:

While I think Adam Smith didn't necessarily, I say, necessarily, deserve to lose his job for his intentional attempt to berate and humiliate Rachel, I do think that her brother/father/boyfriend/husband/girlfriend should have been given the opportunity to kick Adam's ass! The rub is that Adam referenced the company he worked for in his video – not too smart!

The modern “gays” seem to champion that word “hate” at every opportunity, I say, every opportunity, where they have no argument and want to get their own way. They think everyone is supposed to back away, sit in the corner and suck their thumb when aggressively threatened with the words like “homophobe” or “hate”. Let me be up front… I don’t hate gays and I’m not afraid of them. I think the gay charter could garner way more credence if they were to just present truthful facts instead of making stuff up. *I say “stuff” instead of “shit” to be publically polite. Thank you… This is where Jarrett, the author of this piece comes in.

Jarrett, where did your informational basis for an argument to justify Adam’s actions come from? You say: “It's no secret that Arizona has become absolutely infested with Neo-Nazis since Jan Brewer took office... But their intermingling with the Tea Party receives very little media attention - until now. The "White Power" groups, it turns out, are BIG fans of Chick-Fil-A and have been resorting to well-orchestrated cyber-bullying attacks in order to fulfill their "chicken pride" dreams...” Seriously, Jarrett? That’s what you’ve got? What a complete distortional load of kah kah!

You will never, I say, never, earn a drop of credibility writing like this. And, yes, I’m old school and like foghorn leghorn.

  46. Look up employment laws: At-will employment is a doctrine of American law that defines an employment relationship in which either party can break the relationship with no liability, provided there was no express contract for a definite term governing the employment relationship and that the employer does not belong to a collective bargaining group. Under this legal doctrine:

"...any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.

He has no recourse. He was a fool. He deserved what he got. Maybe Chick-Fil-A will hire him as a bus boy, but I doubt it.

Comments from Anonymous persons are twice as likely to get deleted for these reasons. I am very obvious about who I am, and I appreciate the same courtesy in others who have the courage to associate themselves with their commentary.

  49. As a LGBT person I agree with Jackson Pearce. As a union steward, I deal with these types of issues when employees are fired for their actions using company resources, or mentioning the company in their social media content. I am unclear with how Mr. Smith linked this action with his company, Vante Corporation. I wonder if his YouTube account says he works for Vante. If so, then they might be justified in the action they took in terminating his employment. They would also be justified if he used any company resources to upload the video, or was at Chick Fil-A when he was supposed to be on company time. As an executive, there may also be something in his contract with the company that does not allow any media content that would reflect badly on the company, or that was not vetted by the company prior to it being published. This contact was borderline bullying. He should have stated he was opposed to the corporation’s views and not taken the employee to task for working there. He was mostly polite in the way he did it and did not use any profanity or verbally abusive language. The borderline bullying was when he took the employee to task. He would have done a lot better if he had done it the way Jackson recommended.

  50. It is starting to sound like American society is rejecting their ideas. I can assure you they would be soundly rejected if they spewed their hatred in our midst. A tea party in Odessa had three white speakers and three black speakers and all six were applauded and appreciated. One of the black speakers put on a seminar that evening that was well attended and very educational. We routinely have black speakers in my East Texas town and they are always well recieved. And EVERY tea party I've been to has been started with an invitation to racists to keep their mouths shut or leave.
